I’d just watched a client review a shortlist of four candidates. Two were in their early 30s. Two were experienced GenX+.
They picked the younger ones for interview. And rejected the older ones—without even a conversation.
No reasons. No hesitation. Just an unspoken decision.
It was blatant. And it broke me.
Because I’ve seen this before. Over and over. And I knew exactly what it was.
Ageism.
Maybe unconscious. Maybe subtle. But it was there. And it was costing brilliant people their futures.
So I said what needed saying.

And my inbox flooded with messages from people saying:
