Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh 2024

Level 6 Hazardous Materials Advisor

The HMA course is a three-week residential programme delivered on the specialist training grounds at FSC’s Moreton-in-Marsh campus.  It is designed to train delegates to become qualified Hazardous Materials Advisors, equipping them to provide tactical advice and lead responses to complex chemical and hazardous materials incidents.  The course combines theory, tabletop and role-play scenarios, and live practical exercises—drawing on recent real-world incidents and using the full scale of FSC’s incident-ground assets.  It is accredited by JOIFF and co-badged with NCEC and FSC, ensuring alignment with current national operational guidance for hazardous materials.

Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh 2025

Level 6 Award in Advanced Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services

This course is a high-level operational programme aimed at fire & rescue service officers. It develops the knowledge and skills required to take command of complex incidents under the SFJ Awards Level 6 Award in Advanced Incident Command (N.O.G Level 3).  Key features include: • A focus on advanced decision-making when leading people to resolve operational incidents.  • Tactical command of incidents including choosing and justifying tactical options, coordinating multi-agency responses, and commanding at scene.  • Developing command & leadership skills, situational awareness, risk management, and managing the close-down of the operational phase.  • On successful completion, delegates are prepared to operate as an Advanced Incident Commander (Level 3) in line with the National Operational Guidance. 

REME School of Electronic and Aeronautical Engineering, Arborfield 1995

HNC Avionics/Electronics Engineering

The Class 1 Avionics Upgrades Course delivered by the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) of the British Army was an advanced trade and leadership qualification designed to train senior avionics technicians in complex aircraft systems. Completed in 1994, the course provided in-depth expertise in fault diagnosis, inspection, certification, and supervision of avionics maintenance teams, preparing graduates for promotion to Sergeant. At that time, successful candidates gained accreditation at the civilian equivalent of a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Avionics/Electronics Engineering, along with recognition as a Class 1 Technician, a qualification mapped to nationally recognised engineering standards.
